We loved our stay at Shakespeare House. Room: The room was quite large and has all you need during a holiday. A comfortable bed, heater, mini fridge and a warm shower. Wifi all around! Breakfast: A plus! Not many places where we stayed in New Zealand serve breakfast! Cooked breakfast is freshly made by the owners, Liz and Nathan, and served in the main area. Work: We were working during our holiday and were able to use the main area after breakfast, when all other guests left for their adventures of the day. Location: The views are amazing from anywhere in and around town, as you're in the middle of Fiordland. From Shakespeare House it's just a short walk into town where the majority of the restaurants are. There are jet boat and glow worm tours right from the harbor. Doubtful sounds are around the corner and Milford sounds can be done in a day trip. Nathan and Liz took over Shakespeare House about a year ago. You can feel the love for the place and their job, constantly working on improving it for their guests. Thank you for the social chats and amazing tips for our further journey. Hospitality at its best!

Great hosts, accommodation and breakfasts.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Even helped us recover a lost sock! Breakfast was good with real brewed coffee (the powdered stuff seems to be a big thing in NZ). The room was exactly what you would expect from the name of the property.
To those who whine about the pricing, for high season, (and for us the only place that would accept a one night stay), given the prices of everything in New Zealand, including breakfast for two, (which we have been spending $40-50 per day on) AND that the taxes are included – There is nothing wrong with their pricing.
I would not hesitate to stay there again.

Wonderful family run BnB. Nathan and Liz go the extra mile and then some.

Bean and Easy – Falls Creek Australia

Comfy and clean. Lovely owners, were extremely helpful about where to eat and Nathan gave us lots of advice as we were travelling around the island. Clean room and comfy bed. Bathroom quite small and not much shower pressure. Yummy breakfast and plenty of it.

Nice place to be with friends. Two nights in Te Anua at Shakespeare House, comfortable rooms although it would have been nice to have had a slightly bigger bathroom. Breakfast excellent, extremely tasty bacon could have gone back for more often. Friendly owners who are very helpful with restaurant recommendations.

Lovely B&B in quiet Te Anau location near the lake. We stayed three nights here, and it worked well for us. Our room was quiet and private. The breakfasts were very nice, and we enjoyed eating in the dining room with other guests. The staff were friendly but not intrusive.
We also enjoyed the location close to the lake and went for lots of walks along the foreshore.

Extremely pleasant host family with excellent local knowledge; most helpful arranging for dinner; nearby are several very good restaurants and comprehensive grocery store; first rate breakfast served in comfortable surroundings; easy to find and most convenient for day trip to Milford Sound.

Matt – New Zealand
